Diary - September 2009:

Hi,

In the diary entry in June, we were looking forward to the Edinburgh Festival. At that time, it seemed a long way off. Now it is behind us - and how quickly the time has passed. Hope that you all had a good summer holiday.

The festival was certainly a lot of fun. The rain that had turned the festival site into a bit of a quagmire cleared when we arrived, and we had unbroken sunshine. The event itself was excellent, with a full marquee and some superb questions. And thanks to all of you who waited so long to have your books signed afterwards.

We handed out lots of postcards about our Edge on-line novel - which you can find at
www.weirdnewworlds.com - and I know that lots of you have already checked it out. It's getting very exciting. The Battle of the Farrow Ridges is about to get started, and Hedgethorn Lammergyre's attempts to secure back-up from Great Glade seem to have failed...

We're off touring from this weekend. A fortnight in the Scottish Highlands, which we're really looking forward to, followed by the Bath Festival on Saturday, 26 September. During this time, we won't be able to add to the story, but we will do just as soon as we return. I'm sure Loch Ness is going to give us some great ideas.

As well as the on-line writing, we've been working on our follow-up to the Edge Chronicles. We still don't want to say too much about it, except to let you know that the first draft is written, has been read by our editors, and we're busy addressing some of the points they raised. Chris is already experimenting with the illustrations, and we're planning to start putting some pictures from this new world onto the weirdnewworlds website in the autumn.
